Is Another Terrorist Attack Pending? (Amos 3:7)

What the prophetic voices say

Our homeland security forces are busy 24/7 and a big part of it is listening. Besides all the practical security measures like scanning luggage and bomb sniffing dogs, some units do nothing but monitor web sites, emails, and voice traffic. They are listening for signs that another terrorist attack is pending. A few times they have elevated our security level based on cyberspace “chatter” indicating a plot is about to be implemented.

I don’t know what the chatter level is right now in homeland security but I do know that it is high for those who are listening to a level beyond the natural. That would be God’s whisperings to his prophets today. Keeping an ear tuned to God’s supernatural voice is biblically correct. Amos 3:7 says; “Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets.”

So what are the prophetic voices saying regarding another attack? As I listen and monitor some of the prophetic ministries across the country that I feel are trustworthy and have good track records, I hear a common thread. If the church does not pray and repent for the sins of our country pretty soon, another judgment is close.

The sense is that God is not so much angry at us as he is grieved. He is so reluctant to pour out judgment that he keeps waiting and waiting and giving us warnings. Just think about all that has happened in the last few years. We have not had another attack in the United States since September 11th but there have been many plots and would-be terrorists uncovered.

Each time there is an arrest or a potential plot is foiled we think that our beefed up security is working and that our government is succeeding in protecting us. That’s not my take on it. I think God has been graciously exposing the enemy’s plans so we will repent. I think he wants us to realize how close we came or how easy it would be next time for something terrible to happen. He wants us to return to him and “then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Is there still time? I believe there is but it is short. My own pastor is one who often accurately tunes in to God’s prophetic voice. Several weeks ago during prayer over our country he had a vision. He saw a tall skyscraper type building falling, whether by a bomb or a natural disaster he didn’t know. As he watched he prayed and as he prayed the building went back to normal like an old movie put in reverse. We believe this means that prayer could still avert a disaster.

We need not judge and condemn our country for its sin and great falling away from God even though that is true. It is the Church which has fallen away that matters. It is for the Church to return to the Lord that will make the difference. If we don’t, we shouldn’t act too surprised when we see the outcome.
