Action! – Habakkuk 2:14

Wake Up Call

There is a huge amount of unfinished business still pending in the kingdom of God. No Christian should ever be in want of something to do until “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14)

Many of us though, sit on the sidelines like spectators instead of getting into the action. I have been guilty of this myself. We can become more interested in watching the things of God than “doing” the things of God. For instance, we can read book after book on prayer yet never actually get on our own knees. Or, we can attend wonderful conferences and take copious notes which we never put into practice.

I keep getting the picture my daughter described a few days ago while out on lunch break. She walked through a square with foraging pigeons. They scurried about keeping a sharp eye out for dropped food – well, all but a few at least. She said there were two or three of them that were so obese they couldn’t walk. They nestled on the ground and you had to walk around them.

I don’t ever want to get so spiritually bloated that I can’t spring into combat. As Christians we are called soldiers and we better stay lean and mean for the battle. Is your input into your own self exceeding your output into the lives of others? Don’t sit there. Take action!
