Whatever Time Is Left – Isaiah 6:8

Wake Up Call

The older I get the more this single thought seems to seize my mind and heart: I want it to matter that I lived upon this earth. There is a song that perfectly expresses it for me called “History Maker” by the group Delirious. A line from the song says; “I’m gonna be a history maker in this land, I’m gonna be a speaker of truth to all mankind.”

I keep thinking; this is all the time I’ve got. I can’t go back – I can’t rewind. What I do today and tomorrow matters into eternity. I need to get it right from now on. Of course we all have regrets in our past; I certainly have my share, but I feel compelled to work now at keeping them to a minimum.

Ronald Reagan came to the same conclusion after the attempted assassination that nearly took his life in the beginning of his Presidency. He says he got more serious about his purpose in life after that incident and tells it this way; “Whatever time I’ve got left now belongs to the Big Fella Upstairs.”

Yes! That’s it. Does God have an assignment? My hand is up. “Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I, send me!'” (Isaiah 6:8) He’s got me…whatever time is left.
