Splat!

Wake Up Call

Last night I went to an evangelistic power team exhibition that is in my city right now. These are hulking strong men who break through towers of concrete bricks and overturn cars and bench press 400 pound auto engines. The whole purpose is to draw in young people with flashy demonstrations and then invite them to follow Christ.

I saw how the concrete blocks fell seemingly effortlessly with the chop of a hand. I could also see that most of the work of felling them was from their mind. Yes, these guys are strong but it was their concentrated intention to breakthrough that caused the concrete to submit. Simple physical matter was not going to stand in their way.

Every time the power team demolished another tower they told the audience that Jesus Christ could break any addiction they had and free them from any stronghold. At the end when they gave the invitation, more than 80% of the audience came forward to commit to live for Christ.

The whole demonstration reminded me of Jericho and how the walls fell. “It came about, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, that the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat.” (Joshua 6:20) What a colossal splat!

You can have breakthrough too. Do you know that your walls can also come down? Most of the work is in the mind. Start with this: “But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16) Is there anything impossible to you if you put on the mind of Christ? No, nothing.

Don’t think how hard it is; instead, think how powerful Jesus is. With that, you can flatten any wall. Splat!
