Dad Knows the Way

Wake Up Call

You often see a father carrying his child in a back pack like carrier. Pretty nice for a little one who could never cover as much ground as the big strapping dad. Through the park, the mall, the neighborhood – the dad knows the way and the kid can just enjoy the ride.

We know from Jesus that God sees himself as our father; we are even encouraged to call Him by the familiar “Abba” which translates “Daddy” in our modern times. Now that’s an awesome thought, isn’t it?

The One who made heaven and earth, the One who owns all of creation, the One who knows the answer to every mystery we ponder (and even knows our thoughts before we think them); He wants to be called our father.

An Old Testament scripture paints a lovely picture for us. “There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place” (Deuteronomy 1:31). The Israelites might have thought they had a rough way to go after they left Egypt, but in actuality, God was carrying them.

He’s carrying us too. We are closer to Him than we realize. He’s covering all the right ground for our life so we will reach the right place. If you feel worried about your life and where you are headed, trust Dad – He knows the way.
