Someone is Watching – Psalm 138:1

Wake Up Call

Have you ever embarrassed yourself with a stinky attitude about the way your life is going? Have you ever murmured or complained about what you don’t have or about prayer that has not yet been answered? Possibly you are keeping up appearances on the outside but inside there is a pity party in full swing.

Would you act the same way if someone was watching? Psalm 138:1 says; “I will give Thee thanks with all my heart; I will sing praises to Thee before the gods.” Those are false gods; demonic spirits that stand behind what people worship instead of the true living God. And this scripture verse indicates they are watching when I sing praises. Uh Oh. That means they also see me when I’m grumbling and ungrateful.

Praising God and giving thanks is important for many reasons but did you ever think of its importance in light of who is watching? Revelation 12:10 says about Satan; “for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” When we praise and give thanks to God continuously, regardless of our circumstances, there is nothing for Satan to accuse us of. He is silenced and with no fuel for the fire, the enemy’s meddling in our affairs is diminished.

In sincere praise and thanksgiving God receives all of our heart. That’s the least He is due for His greatness and kindness and mercy toward us every day. The next time you start to grumble, be careful. Someone is watching.
