Warm Spot

Wake Up Call

How slow does an ice cube melt? Depends on the environment it is in doesn’t it? It will melt slower in the refrigerator and much faster if it’s lying out on a counter. Add a sunny window and the ice cube will disappear fast.

Melting the ice in a person’s heart is the same way. It depends what environment they are in. If you have ever been around emotionally damaged people it sometimes feels like they are ice cubes. Probably to protect themselves, they are often hard and cold. They are not about to let anyone in and the cold shoulder stops most people from even trying.

But a cold environment does nothing to thaw their heart. They need to be in a warm spot; preferably a sunny spot. Actually, an ice cube has literally no chance at all of NOT melting if warmth is applied. A person with a stone cold heart is the same if they can get under the warmth of the love of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 4:8 says; “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”It is love that reaches the “ice cube” person and starts the thaw; it is love that heals the damage and hurt. It is love we are called to extend no matter how frigid they may seem. Do you have a little warm spot to offer?
