Just the Facts?

Wake Up Call

For any who remember the old Dragnet TV series, the line ‘Just the facts ma’am’ is a very familiar one. Sgt. Joe Friday played by Jack Webb didn’t want any opinions or rabbit trails from those whom he interrogated even though they were always trying to insert them.

‘The Facts’ seem like a good starting point but is it always the whole truth? NO. Take for instance the fact that our lives do not always match up with God’s Word. We see the promises yet there are times when we don’t seem to possess them.

Well, we say, ‘the fact of the matter is that I don’t see the promise fulfilled.’ How are we supposed to reconcile that? Lately I heard a lady recount what a mentor of hers always said that helped her. As I thought about it, it helped me too and I’m passing it on to you.

Whenever something happened that was out of whack with what was being prayed or believed for this woman had a saying: “The facts are’ but the truth is” The fact might be no rent money but the truth is that “my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) The fact might be impossible circumstances but the truth is “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”(Mark 10:27)

Do you have any ‘facts’ in your life right now that need some additional information? Try remembering: “But the TRUTH is…”
