Here’s a Bible trivia question for you. What is God’s favorite city? The correct answer is Jerusalem. The Lord loves it so much that he offers this: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you.'” (Psalm 122: 6) Wow – a special blessing of prosperity for anyone who feels like He does about his great city.

Now I have no real idea why this particular hunk of ground is so precious to God. There is lots of speculation on that account such as the belief that Jerusalem is where Abraham took his son up on the mountain to sacrifice him before God stopped him. There are other ideas too.

Regardless why, God loves Jerusalem so much that when time as we know it ends, He will create it over again, “the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” (Revelation 21:2) Also, just because God is partial to it; the devil hates it and continuously stirs up trouble over the possessing of it. Jerusalem has been the most fought over land in the history of the world. The last battle will culminate right there.

What should you do about all this? Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Every time it is in the news (which is often), stop and offer up prayer for the city and for its inhabitants. Get on the same page with God in loving and caring and praying for His favorite city. After all, why should you miss this blessing?
