I am here today to suggest that you schedule a side splitting, fall down and roll around on the floor laughing spree! Some of you need it badly. All of us need it. God built in a laugh capacity to each person to release stress among other reasons. Smiling and laughing are good for the body and good for the soul.
Proverbs 17:22 says; “A cheerful heart does good like a medicine but a broken spirit makes one sick.”Someone just called me on the phone and mentioned she was yelled at severely this morning at work. That sure dampens the heart. She needs to recover that cheerful heart, but how?
I say; take every possible opportunity to laugh. Some of you are working awfully long hours, some of you have chronic pain, and some of you are enduring some very stressful life situations. Well, put yourself in the way of funny stuff; stuff that does it to you every time. I know I have a couple of movies that really break me up no matter how many times I watch them.
Listen to some comedy routines; watch some hilarious movies; invite friends over for silly games; watch some children’s antics – whatever it takes. If you have been so up tight lately that it hasn’t even occurred to you to laugh, change all that and decide to have some fun. The more you laugh the less you will stress. There you go; that’s the good medicine you need right about now!
