Don’t Fear The Scarecrow – John 10:10

Wake Up Call

I received an email from someone lately with an anonymous quote that said in part: “A wise bird knows that a scarecrow is simply an advertisement.” How true, but I never thought of it that way before.

If a garden is fallow or filled with puny undesirable produce, the farmer doesn’t need to set up a diversion. It is only when he has something good to protect that he guards it by placing his scarecrow to frighten the birds to KEEP OUT. A smart bird sees through the ruse and plunks himself down for a delicious meal.

It’s time we started to see the scarecrows that the devil has set up in our life. What garden does he want to keep us out of? He certainly doesn’t want us to partake of God’s richest blessings. Scripture tells us; “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” (John 10:10)

If a chance for healing comes along the devil is going to erect a scarecrow. If there is a garden of prosperity and abundance nearby he wants to scare us off. But we can be the wise bird. Where we feel hindrances, obstacles and fears we should suspect a scarecrow. Look over its shoulder and see if there isn’t a lush garden.

A scarecrow can’t really do anything to stop the birds and the devil can’t really do anything to stop us – if we are not afraid and see what is really going on. Go ahead and plunk yourself down into the center of God’s best for you. A delicious meal waits.
