The Whole Enchilada – Matthew 25:21

Wake Up Call

I have a favorite Mexican restaurant which, on top of being the best, happens to be near my house. When I go, I don’t just sit in the lobby and I don’t just order an appetizer. Platters are the best choice; the ones that have rice and refried beans and guacamole and sour cream and cheese along with the main course. I want the whole enchilada!

When I got saved in 1977, I felt the same way about my new Christian life. I wanted it all – everything God had to offer. But I noticed as time went along that everybody does not feel the same way. It seems that some walk through the door and stop. They accept Christ as their savior. Period. They never move on for more.

Is that why the scripture says; “For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.” (Hebrews 5:13) How many are babes, stuck on milk alone?

I say it is time to explore the menu and start ordering platters. Salvation gets you into heaven but what will you do when you get there? Heaven is dynamic and active. There will be plenty of stuff to do. Is that the time when Jesus will say; “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” (Matthew 25:21)

Only those who are off the bottle will be able to enjoy the wonderful platters. Your table is ready.
