An Earth Full – Isaiah 11:2
There is a prophetic description of the Messiah in Isaiah 11. It starts off talking about the shoot that will spring up from the root of Jesse. That is Jesus, descended from King David, Jesse’s son. In much of the passage I can see how Jesus filled the bill. For instance, verse 2 says; “And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him…” That was certainly evident in the life of Christ during his three year public ministry.
What do you think of this part though? “For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Verse 9) Did that happen in Jesus’ lifetime? Has it happened yet? I’d have to say NO. We have had great moves of God throughout the centuries and the followers of Jesus were said to have turned the world upside down. But from my vantage point I don’t think this scripture has yet been fulfilled.
The exciting part then is that this portion of the prophecy is still pending. Have you thought about what that would look like? When you think about being in the middle of an ocean with no land in sight from any direction, you get an idea of the vastness of the seas. A time will come when the knowledge of God will soak everything on earth.
I think we are getting close! I can’t think of a more exciting time to be alive and part of God’s final prophetic fulfillment. Are you ready? Hurry! Before the earth is full – YOU be full!
