Return the Favor – Psalm 139:15

Wake Up Call

Did you ever feel misunderstood? You have a feeling that someone just doesn’t “get” you and because of it they make negative assumptions about you. We tend to be comfortable and understanding of personality types which are similar to our own. We all do it – we have probably done the same thing to someone else.

Don’t get the idea though, that if others don’t understand you there is necessarily something wrong with you. Even though we all have areas where we need to grow and change it is God who designed our core. He likes His work; He doesn’t make junk.

Before you entertain negative judgments about yourself which question your self worth, listen to God’s opinion first. “My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth” (Psalm 139:15). Meditate on that word “skillfully” and it may be easier to forgive any misunderstandings others may have of you.

Now that you have listened to God about yourself you know you are a delightful treasure to Him. Your self confidence has grown and you feel secure in God’s love for you. You know God “gets” you.

Something else to consider: you know that other guy who so misjudged you? He is also “skillfully wrought.” Do you want to be considered and valued for who you really are? Be sure to return the favor.
