Trump Card – Lamentations 3:22

Wake Up Call

Hebrews 13:6 says “that we confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What shall man do to me?'” Well, what CAN man do to me?

I can think of some things. He can lie about me to others, betray me, steal my possessions and harm me or my loved ones to name a few. Am I immune from these things because I am a Christian? Doesn’t God know that bad things sometimes happen to good people?

Sometimes we even cause our own harm. Once I came to my car at the end of a long day of work in another city and my battery was dead. I had forgotten to turn off my lights but I sat there in panic for several minutes saying; “God, why did you let this happen?”

The truth is that we need to prepare for the UNKNOWN with the KNOWN. There is much about our future that is unknown. Life will deal us unexpected hands here and there along the way. We can expect the unexpected.

So why should we be unafraid as God’s Word says? Because our whole life – no matter what happens – is subject to a higher law with more authority than the unknown. We have a sure foundation of truth in the KNOWN. Such as?

“The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.” (Lamentations 3:22)

“Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself.” (Matthew 6:34)

“Casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Don’t give in when new trouble tries to deal you fear. Throw down the KNOWN. That’s your trump card.
