Unnoticed? – Luke 21:3

Wake Up Call

What if you unassumingly went about your daily business and, one day down the road opened a book from the bestseller list to find an incident from your life accurately recounted for all to see? How surprising to you that the author had been observing you and you never realized it.

That’s pretty much what happened to a certain widow that Jesus observed placing her gift of two small copper coins in the treasury of the temple. It’s a famous incident but she never knew anyone saw her ‘ no doubt until eternity. The bestseller is the Bible and her story has been told hundreds of thousands of times.

Jesus honors this woman by saying of her “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.” (Luke 21:3)

What the woman did was truly remarkable. Giving everything she had is the biggest act of trust I can imagine. Then she walked out of the temple never knowing that the God she served sat only a few feet away watching and commenting to his disciples. She may have been poor on earth but think of her treasures right now in heaven.

Now to YOU. Do you think it is possible that you are going about your daily business unobserved? Do you suppose yourself to be mainly inconspicuous from anyone important? Think yourself unnoticed? Think again.
