What Concerns Me – Psalm 138:7

Wake Up Call

I wonder what will happen this year? I do the same thing year after year…speculate and ponder and wonder what the New Year will bring. I look back over the surprises of the previous year (some happy surprises and some I would rather have missed) and close the previous twelve months as a done deal.

Now there is a chance for something new and fresh and anticipation is heightened once more. Will this be THE year? A year with such spectacular events it will be one for the history books? Of course, God keeps time differently than we do. Is January 1 the beginning of the year for Him? I doubt it.

But you know He is working on something good anyhow. He’s the master of all time and the master of the unfolding plan for mankind. He knew precisely when it was time for Jesus to come the first time and He knows also the right moment for the Second Coming.

He’s working on something for each of us individually too. He’s not too busy with the universe to reach down into the smallest details of our next twelve months. No matter what God has on the agenda for this year we can be sure:

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, Thou wilt stretch forth Thy hand against the wrath of my enemies and Thy right hand will save me. The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Thy lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting” (Psalm 138:7-8).
