All Your NEEDS

Wake Up Call

I note in Philippians 4:19 that Paul encourages us with this: “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” How often I have held to that scripture, perhaps you have too.

Yet today the word “needs” seems to be the one that jumps off the page. NEEDS in contrast to WANTS. I want so many things that I often mistake them for needs. In fact, there have been times in my life when I actually had no idea what I really needed yet God knew and that is what was supplied.

God knows that we need character in addition to food and shelter. He knows that we need refining in desert places so we will more appreciate the blessings of the lush meadow. He knows we need to prepare for eternity in addition to our daily provision here on earth.

Sometimes when I don’t see an overflowing supply of his “riches in glory” I ought to hold off on the disappointment or frustration. Was this a need or a want? If a need, what is it I really need? Is it something deeper than what I surmise? God is trustworthy and he knows the difference. He will supply it.
