He Will Do It – Genesis 11:6

Wake Up Call

Did you ever think of how much power there is in agreement? The incident with the Tower of Babel helps us understand. The people of the earth were building a city with a tower that would reach to the heavens. This was not a good thing – it was evil and rebellious. God looked at it and said; “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.” (Genesis 11:6)

In order to stop them, God introduced different languages for the first time. They could no longer understand each other and the plan was thwarted. God was pretty much saying that if He didn’t do something to prevent it they were going to succeed. That’s astonishing. If the power of agreement was that strong in sinful man, how much more so is it when God’s people come into agreement with him?

Matthew 18:19 spells it out for us. “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.” Wow! God is actually sharing His creative power with us. He is allowing us to become His partner for His purposes.

What do you think God would like you to agree with Him to do? Ask Him and find out. Agree with Him and then watch carefully. He will do it.

I truly believe in the power of prayer . It has worked in my life so many times and I know that it continues to work. I am just at a crossroad in my life right now . My husband and I have been married for thirty plus years and we have a wonderful relationship. But, our relationship is being tested and strained not by any outside issues and or problems but, inside . Our adult daughter and her four children live with us. My daughter have lived with us most of her adult life. Her oldest child is ten years old and her youngest in three months. They have been a part of our household since birth. My daughter has never really been employed for any length of time . My husband and myself really feel as though she is in need of some mental health counseling. I being the mother and grand mother just feel overwhelmed, stressed and drained. And, I feel so badly for my husband who is caught in the middle between his wife, his only daughter and of course his grandchildren whom he adore. – Oh, sure the easy option for someone else would be to just throw her out – but, we can’t because of the four grandchildren . Please pray for my family and our strength in the Lord that he will give us the wisdom, knowledge and understanding that we so lack in this stressful situation.

It sounds like your daughter didn’t go the usual route into adulthood: leave the nest for her own independence and freedom. Somehow she got stuck. In the bird world the parents push the babies out and show them that they really can fly and they are ready to do so. It’s not mean or unloving; it’s actually true love. Since that didn’t happen, what to do now? The power of agreement can be powerful for you and your husband. God wants your daughter and her children emotionally healthy, so agree with God on that. Exactly how that will work itself out may mean some deep soul searching for you, some good support from a Christian counselor or wise pastor, and someone to aid your daughter’s transition into adult life. Painful. Hard work. Definitely worth it. Start with seeking the Lord’s strategy, and be ready to obey no matter how hard for you. You will be glad when you are on the other side, and that CAN be the outcome. God bless you all.
