Eye Witness – Acts 17:6

Wake Up Call

After Jesus had returned to heaven, his disciples were left to carry on his message of Good News and to make new disciples. They did so quite effectively because it was accusingly said of them; “These who have turned the world upside down…” (Acts 17:6)

Peter for instance, was transformed from a frightened and even cowardly follower into a bold and strong witness for Christ. One way he was so effective was because he was an eye witness. In one of his letters he said; “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.” (2 Peter 1:16)

Have you thought of yourself as an eyewitness? No, you didn’t walk the earth when Jesus did but you are a real life eye witness to your own conversion. You have seen God’s faithfulness first hand and that is the powerful story you have to tell.

People do not wish to be argued into the kingdom of God. They don’t want theological jargon and they don’t want it proved to them that they are headed for hell. On the other hand, they are usually open to personal stories. When you say; “I know for myself what God is like because this is what happened to me…” your words ring true and they are indisputable.

Would you like to be accused of turning the world upside down? Go ahead and give your account. You’re an eyewitness too!
