Better Bread – Exodus 15:26

Wake Up Call

When the Israelites walked for forty years in the wilderness they may have been rebellious sometimes and doubting sometimes but one thing they were not was SICK. Psalm 105:37 tells us: “He also brought them out (of Egypt) with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among His tribes.”

In fact, He promised them that, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God…I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26)

What did they eat during all those years? They ate special bread called “manna”. God “satisfied them with the bread of heaven” (Psalm 105:40). When Jesus came to earth He said of Himself; “I am the bread of life” (John 6:48). He harkens back to the time in the wilderness: “Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die” (Verses 49-50). That’s way better than only forty years without sickness and disease!

Hmmm. Let’s put this all together now. Can we eat this bread from heaven today and walk in healing? I believe so. I think that’s why He instituted communion – so we would remember who He is and what He did. “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me” (Luke 22:19)

And what are we remembering He did? He bore our griefs, He carried our sorrows, He was wounded for our sins, He was bruised for our iniquity, He took chastisement for our peace and oh yes, “by His Stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).

This Wake Up Call was inspired by Perry Stone’s teaching on “The Meal That Heals”.
