For what purpose are you upon the earth? Why did God decide to make YOU? What are you here to do that no one else is destined to do?
Esther was a woman of the Old Testament being pulled along by history. She was one of millions of Jews in exile due to the Israel’s unfaithfulness to God. Though she hadn’t caused any of it, she suffered from it anyhow. She was just trying to live her life; she had no idea that she was a woman of great purpose.
Esther rose to become queen to Ahasuerus, king of Persia. This was not something she sought but was sovereignly arranged of God. Okay, pretty good you say; not a bad job to become a queen. But if you read the book of Esther you will see that a queen was little more than a slave, even if a rich one. Anyhow, Esther was put in a very tight circumstance which revealed her destiny.
The Jews were scheduled for annihilation and Esther had one shot to reverse it but it might cost her own life. She really didn’t want to take that chance but her cousin Mordecai said something very important to her. “And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14b) Esther thought that over and made her decision; “I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16b).
Will your destiny put your life on the line? Perhaps not – or maybe it will; who knows? Are you willing to fulfill your destiny no matter what it means? You have a great destiny…for such a time as this.
