God Didn’t Cross His Fingers – Psalm 33:6

Wake Up Call

Back in the beginning, when God was the only thing there was, He spoke the worlds into being. “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.” (Psalm 33:6) Verse 9 says; “For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.”

Since nothing was in existence to go by, how did God know He could create something from nothing simply by saying so? Being God, perfect faith resided in Him. He didn’t cross His fingers and hope against hope it would happen; He KNEW it would happen. And it did.

Jesus invited His disciples to share in His kind of faith. After He had cursed the fig tree so that it withered, He said to His surprised followers; “If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done”(Matthew 21:21). Think how often Jesus chided the disciples for their lack of faith; He seemed surprised and disappointed by it.

Now it’s our turn and the invitation to walk in faith that moves mountains is still open to believers of Jesus Christ. “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Matthew 21:22). Start walking in faith. God didn’t cross His fingers and neither should you.
