Make It Count

Wake Up Call

Do you know how much time you have left on planet earth? And, if known, what would you do about it? Several years ago a man who knew a young missionary was told by God that she would be martyred by the time she was twenty-five. After prayer, he decided to tell her.

When he did, she very calmly replied: “I know; God has told me the same thing.” She went on; “Now the issue for me is to make sure I don’t go to his throne empty handed. I want to present as much glory to the King as is possible in the time left.” Every day had purpose for her remaining days. She was beheaded before she turned twenty-five.

“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even to death.” (Revelation 12:11) She is certainly one to whom that scripture refers. Yet, whether martyred or not, every one of us will die someday.

Do you have a few days remaining or many years? You probably don’t know but either way, you can follow the young missionary. Like her, you can decide that you don’t want to go empty handed. When you go to God’s throne room, how you lived will be more important than how you died.

Don’t think about how much time you might have left. Just make all of it count.
