How is it possible that the more you give away the more you will have? Does that seem like a contradiction? Yet, spiritual laws many times turn natural laws on their ears. Proverbs 11:25 says; “The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.”

Being generous actually increases prosperity. I’ve seen it happen over and over to people and it is fun to watch someone catch on to this for the first time. First they look at their meager lot and it only seems prudent to hang on to the little they have. How would they get by if they gave some away?

Then they take a leap of faith, throw caution to the wind and give a small gift from the heart. It feels so good but they aren’t sure how it will turn out. Next, something comes back in and they are so surprised. Did my “giving” attract some “getting” they wonder? Wow! Maybe I better try this again and see if the same thing happens again.

Finally they are on a roll and giving and generosity become a lifestyle. Their antenna is always up for an opportunity to give something away. The more their giving grows, the more their prosperity grows.

Why does this work? God’s behind the whole thing in His own mysterious way but who cares how? You might as well live by it and enjoy it because — it’s the law.
