Ask of Me – Psalm 2:8

Wake Up Call

Are your prayers big enough? Have you ever prayed that God would give you a nation? You can do that you know. Psalm 2:8 says; “Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession.”

This is considered a messianic prophetic passage. That means that God was speaking of Jesus the Messiah to come who would inherit all the kingdoms of the earth. “For he (meaning God) has put all things under His (meaning Christ) under His feet.” (1 Corinthians 15:27) Now that Jesus has returned to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father, we are His hands and feet and mouth today. Didn’t He promise that we would do even greater things than He did while He was on earth? (See John 14:12)

God cares about our personal needs and wants us to ask for our daily bread. He wants us to pray for our loved ones who do not know Him yet. He receives our prayers for those in authority over us like our employers, our local, state and federal government. Yes, all of these, but He even wants to give us nations of people who will serve Him.

Who will ask for Saudi Arabia? Who will cry out for Sri Lanka? Nigeria? Malaysia? Remember the great multitude that will be gathered around God’s throne, too great to number. They will be “of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues…”(Revelation 7:9). Will some of them be counted among that great throng because YOU obeyed His command: ASK OF ME?
