One day Jesus sat by a well alone in a little town called Sychar. It seemed like a natural turn of events. He sits to rest after a tiring walk on his way to somewhere else. His disciples leave to buy food in town. A woman happens by to draw water.

She didn’t know it at first but it was HER day. She was just going about her daily business when the God of all creation arranged to meet her one-on-one for a divine appointment over a cup of water. DESTINY!

“Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” (John 4:13) Yes, she wanted such water … thereafter she would never be the same.

Have you had such an encounter? I have. Like the woman at the well, mine was also alone, sitting on my bed about 9:30 one Saturday morning. As I look back I see that all of heaven had conspired for my whole life to get me in the right place at the right time. Jesus “happened” by and I was very thirsty.

If you have a similar memory, don’t take it for granted. There was nothing chance about your own divine meeting. But what if you haven’t ever had such a personal encounter with Jesus Christ? Well, maybe today is YOUR day. Would you like it to be?

This little story may be your invitation in what started out simply going about your daily business. Hint: if you’re thirsty, take that as a sign.
