We all know the criminal justice system doesn’t function perfectly. In the last few years, with DNA evidence now available, we are finding those who have been in prison for crimes they did not commit. Which of course means that others are walking free who actually committed those crimes.
Additionally, many who navigate through the courts find out that truth is not as important as the rules of the law which are supposed to offer justice. “Technicalities” sometimes deliver a miscarriage of justice. This is a crushing blow to those who experience wrongs winning out.
Our longing for justice is a reflection of God’s own heart. “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face” (Psalm 89:14). God does not approve when truth does not prevail or when justice is aborted. Jesus said; “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known” (Luke 12:2).
Those who committed crimes in the darkness but were never caught will find themselves “caught” under God’s spotlight someday. Those on the receiving end of injustice will be vindicated finally. We may lament that the justice systems upon the earth do not perfectly dole out justice. Don’t worry; the time is coming when there will be justice for ALL.
