Decisions, decisions… – Proverbs 3:6

Wake Up Call

How do you make decisions? Have you ever thought about the process you use? We all have one even if we have never verbalized it. Some of us agonize over decisions; even the smallest ones. Some makes lists of pros versus cons and see which list is longer. Then there are the “spur of the moment” kinds of folks who spontaneously decide everything.

Many of us have tempered the way we make decisions over time because past mistakes have taught us good lessons. We see how unwise some things turned out. That would be me regarding the way I used to decide on buying a new car. I always made an emotional decision without research and then lived with some bad cars for several years.

The wisest way we can make decisions is to always include God in the process. I like the way The Message expresses Proverbs 3:6; “Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.” Submit your decisions to Him and ask for wisdom in making choices.

One more suggestion is to always add a pinch of patience. After making a major decision, let it rest 24 hours before acting on it. If you have asked God’s help, that’s your chance to hear His final word. When it’s not right, you will usually get an unsettled feeling or an absence of peace. Have a decision coming up? Decide now to make it the right way
