“For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all our ways” (Psalm 91:11). Did you know that you have a guardian angel assigned to you, maybe even two? Remembering it in difficult times can be a real comfort.
I learned about guardian angels when I was a little girl and I was really taken with the concept. My sister and I decided to “name” our angels and we constantly went about talking out loud to them and ordering them around. We somehow had the impression that these fabulous beings were like valet service to us.
No, that’s not the right idea but I’m sure they overlooked our childishness and kept doing God’s assigned duty no matter what. Though I’ve never seen an angel that I know of I did have an experience of genuinely feeling one’s presence some years ago.
I was coming down a flight of stairs in my home and tripped. I began to fall forward and in a split second realized I had no way to catch myself. It was going to be a bad fall. But then suddenly in that split second I felt something like a hand take mine and steady me onto the hard surface of the step. I somehow sensed intelligence and kindness during the episode and I have always thought it was probably my guardian angel.
Some would pooh-pooh my experience but Hebrews 1:14 tells us; “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” Catching someone about to fall wouldn’t be such a stretch then, would it? Just another angel on assignment.
