If the Shoe Fits
A lady wrote me recently who wonders how she can bring God’s healing power to her family members. She wants to understand how healing works and if she might be used in it. She reminds me of a friend of mine who has a great gift of faith and a strong desire to see God’s healing manifested to all the sick people she sees around her.
I wrote the woman back and told her that her interest in healing may be her first clue that the “gifts of healing by the one Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:9) might reside within her. Those interests or spiritual burdens often give us our first introduction to our calling by the Holy Spirit.
Not everyone feels the same way we do. One may have a burning desire to see the dead raised while another feels more strongly that every soul on earth be reached with the gospel and yet another’s burden is that those that are saved be properly discipled. All these differences are not at cross purposes – they are carrying a different anointing to fulfill different ministries yet “by the one Spirit.”
If you wonder what your own gifts are, start with what attracts you. What do you absolutely love doing so much it puts you in the zone(that place where time goes away and you feel immersed in satisfaction)? For me it’s writing yet I have friends who wonder how in the world I can sit at a computer writing for hours on end.
They say that if the shoe fits, wear it. There is a shoe in your closet that fits you like a glove. Find it and put it on!
